Bayern Munich midfielder agrees terms with Liverpool

Bayern Munich midfielder Thiago Alcantara agrees personal terms with Liverpool.

The Bavarian faithful were mesmerized by the team’s performance against Barcelona this week. Thiago Alcantara was one of the big reasons behind this historic result for Bayern Munich. The Spaniard continued to highlight his influence on the pitch as he dominated the midfield against Barcelona.

Die Roten fans will cherish these moments from Thiago as he looks certain to leave this summer. The Spanish international had a change of mind at the last moment when everything was agreed with the club regarding a contract renewal. His protracted move to Liverpool is getting close.

According to RMC’s Mohamed Bouhafsi, Thiago has already agreed to personal terms with Liverpool for a four-year contract. It is now up to two clubs to negotiate a transfer fee for the 29-year-old midfielder. Hansi Flick had previously hinted that Thiago could be playing in Premier League next season.

Meanwhile, Fabrizio Romano insists that Liverpool doesn’t want to pay €30 million for a player that could be available for nothing next summer. The negotiations may get intense when Die Roten’s Champions League campaign concludes next week.

It will be a big blow for Rekordmeister since Thiago has been a mainstay in Flick’s team this season. He formed a strong midfield partnership with Joshua Kimmich to provide the platform for forwards to flourish and retain their domestic titles.

In European games, Thiago has helped Die Roten to dominate the best teams. He has been one of the key reasons behind the team’s unbeaten run in the Champions League this season. The Spaniard also got a chance to play in the number eight role when Kimmich was sitting in front of the defense.

From a sporting perspective, Thiago will be a big miss for Die Roten. However, the German club is unlikely to be bullied regarding his transfer fee. They would be better served by keeping Thiago for one more season rather than losing him for a modest transfer fee. Who knows, just like Robert Lewandowski, he changes his mind and signs a new contract.
